Impact of Corona virus on Health and Politics

Currently opposition party is doing several rallies and protest against government in which thousands of people are coming and attending those events which is causing the rise in cases of corona. We all know and our government also accept that our health system is not up to mark that we can face this deadly disease. To help a state like us WHO, ADB and several countries send aid and medical equipment’s so as a state we can fight this virus. During first wave we were short of hospital bed, medical staff and medical equipment. Province and Federal governments were doing politics during hard times and fighting with each other. Major issue which was observed was that government officials either federal or provincial were just making statement on media but on ground they were doing nothing. NGO and different individuals came on ground to help each other. Funds which were send by WHO and ADB were not utilized properly and it was claimed by different parties that corruption was observed in this case too. Situation was too bad that safety equipment which were expected to be given to paramedical staff were not handed over to them and because of this mismanagement many doctors and paramedical staff loss their precious life due to Corona. Hope so Pakistan will recover from this deadly virus soon.

Some major points are:

Lack of medical services in cities and villages.

OPDs were closed

W.H.O, ADB gave funds and aids but they were not properly utilized

IMF send aid of 1.4B USD as virus case top 7,000

ADB approves 300 Million USD loan for Pakistan.

Politics was seen in name of corona, only statements were made

Health is below average level

NGOs and individuals helped locals

Many doctors lose their life’s because proper equipment’s were not provided

Impact of Corona On Education

Pakistan being one of country relating to the education sector, faced more problems once this pandemic began.

In the first stage education institutes of all level were shut down and the education system was transferred to online medium. As a result around 46 million student were forced to stay at home. In country like Pakistan where investment in education sector was already scarce, Covid-19 caused further shrinkage. Covid-19 magnified the inequality in Pakistan’s education system and a rise in school dropout rate was expected, especially girls. This was mainly because of worsening economic condition and high unemployment rate.

The online education system being new to everyone, was difficult to introduce at first. As internet service in Pakistan is also not satisfactory and most of the households don’t even have such facilities like internet and mobile/laptops available, so connecting to online classes was a big issue. Load shedding issue in multiple areas also added to the problems in online classes. This increased the gap between students and teachers further.

Certain strategies were designed by government to address this education sector issue, like “Tele school” was launched. Tele school consisted of educational programs being broadcasted at Pakistan Television from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. everyday. The content being taught was for grade 1-12. This Tele school became a single educational source for millions of Pakistani students. ‘Taleem Ghar,’ an education programe for public school students enrolled in grades1-8, was initiated at the provincial level by the government of Punjab. It is accessible through a website, cable television, and a mobile phone app. In order to make large-scale remote learning possible, provinces need to build and encourage localized, free and open digital resources for education. Where there is restricted access to the Internet and online resources, it’s essential to produce, print and distribute learning materials.

Impact of Corona on Pakistan’s Economy

Pakistan’s economy just started towards stability, when this pandemic struck the country and country’s recovery process is expected to derail. At first when this virus out breaks in china so it also had a negative impact on Pakistan economy because there are many products that were imported from china and china has closed their exports so there was a massive impact on Pakistan business. For example, who solely depend on raw material imported from china became clueless what to do because his whole business cycle depends on china. When this virus officially discovered in Pakistan so government closed all business activities which causes cash flow to stop and economy was going down with sharp trend. As prime minister was concerned about the poor people so he started to take steps in which slowly economic cycle started to operate although it was a baby step but it provides some sort of support to economy. According to officials’ statements and reports Pakistan economy was among those who had less damage as compared to others in the region. Main working season didn’t go well for the businesses so many businesses went down and they were force to fire their employees and cut down their salaries. Different businesses tried to do work from home but it didn’t put that much impact on economy. During this pandemic many people went down in status level and were considered to take Zakat or different type of loans to survive and support their household.

This pandemic situation caused rise in unemployment, and various sectors faced crisis causing country’s economy to shrink.

Most of the micro businesses faced financial issues, supply chain disruption, decrease in demand, and reduction in sales and profits. Several businesses like airline industry and hotel agency faced the worst phase of their all-time because their customers were went to zero level and they were unable meet their expenses so they were forced to file their bankruptcy and many of them reduced their employees.

One of Pakistan’s primary export is Textile, and after Covid-19, multiple orders were cancelled and many delayed as international flights were terminated and shipments were also cancelled.

All of this is expected to negatively affect currency value and GDP rate. For instance, in 2018 when Imran Khan came in power, the GDP was 5.8% and now it’s 0.98% which is further likely to decrease. Government is continuously trying to convince citizens to follow sop so that they can run economy in a smooth way.

Pakistan’s current issue

COVID-19 which was first discovered in China in November. It causes many negative impacts on China, their trade stop, flights were cancelled, economy was going down every day. This virus spread and it started to spread in many other countries. Pakistani students were stuck in china and wants to come back but government didn’t allow them to enter Pakistan because they may cause virus to spread in Pakistan and Pakistan health system was not good so government decided they will be safe there. After few months Iran was also COVID-19 hub but this time government didn’t stop Pakistani who were coming back from Iran and because of this first case of COVID-19 was found in Karachi on 26 February 2020. Virus spreading quickly in every region of country so steps were taken into consideration and education systems were closed on immediate basis and slowly slowly all other business and other activities were cancelled and government decided to place total lock down in whole country. It is currently the biggest issue Pakistan facing, at the current time second wave is going towards is peak which seems to be more dangerous than the first one. Again, government is ready to place smart lock down like before in whole country. Education systems are closed again which is impacting the education system, health system is not ready to cater the worst situation which may strike soon, economy seems to go down again and many other impacts can be seen. Currently total record cases are 569,846, total deaths 12,563, total recovered 533,202 and today’s new cases are +1,340 which alarming situation. If things are not taken seriously again so these problems will increase.

RIGHTS OF ELDERLY ACCORDING TO Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H)

There are two main sources of Islamic law, namely the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet. Allah Almighty has commanded in His book Quran to treat everyone well and pay them their dues. In this way, Allah Almighty and His beloved Prophet have commanded us to treat the elders with courtesy and to pay their dues. Whether they are your parents or some other elder. Some morals are not only Islamic but also universal. These morals are present in every religion but some religions place more emphasis on certain practices or morals than others. Respect for elders is considered a very important issue in Islam. Islam teaches perfect morality and forbids bad morals. There is a clear social hierarchy in the Muslim community that puts the elders first. Elders should be valued and their opinions should be taken into consideration and their wishes should be taken into consideration whenever possible. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about the elders that he is not one of us who does not have mercy on young children and does not respect the elderly. In another hadeeth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: They do not and do not know the rights of our elders. They are not of us. In another hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The best act of goodness is to treat a person with kindness to his father’s loved ones. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that blessings are with one’s elders. On the Day of Resurrection, nothing will be heavier on the scale of a believer than good morals. God hates anyone who speaks nonsense. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Gabriel told me to give preference to the elders and he said that if something is offered for drinking, it should be given to the elders first.  When it is time for prayers, one of you should give the call to prayer and the oldest of you should lead the prayers. Part of glorifying God is to honor the gray-haired Muslim.

RIGHTS OF ELDERLY ACCORDING TO QURAN

Islam is the religion of justice and compassion. Islam is the religion that teaches perfect morals and forbids bad conduct. There can be no doubt that Islam has given the senior citizens a unique status. There are many rights of elders or senior citizens are discussed in Islam. Islam gave many importance to elders and also told us to respect them and give importance to them. Families are taught to honor their elder ones and also taught to respect them instead of casting them out to old house. There are many verses in Quran which urge Muslims to honor them and to respect them.

Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:

“Worship Allah and join none with Him (in worship); and do good to parents…” [al-Nisa’ 4:36]

In other verse the Quran tells us about the honor and respect to parents is

“You have to be kind to your parents.” (Surah A’nam 6:151)

Islam also teaches us to show respect to those people who are older than us, have more knowledge than us and possess higher rank than us. Almost every day we must contact and communicate our elders. Our elders here include parents, maternal and parental uncles, elder siblings, other relatives, teachers and all those people who are honorable and have a greater status and position than us. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran.

Treat your parents with goodness; if either of them or both reach old age in your presence, do not say ‘uff’ (any expression of disgust) to them and do not chide them, and speak to them with respect. And spread for them the arms of humility with tender heart, and say, ‘My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they brought me up when I was a child.’

Showing respect to the elders, in the light of Glorious Al Quran, is the best act. Those who give respect to elders are considered honorable in the society. Showing respect and honor to elders is the outcome of the virtuous character of human. Respecting the elderly is the way of obtaining the neighborhood of the Prophet (SAW) in Jannah.

Rights Of Elders

Islam the religion of peace and humanity. Allah chose Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) as His last messenger to spread Islam. Islam cares about all creature whether its believers, non-believers, trees, animals etc. Islam ask Muslims to protect the rights of Senior citizens or you can say your elders and treat them with extra care. Islam shows great importance on senior citizen rights. Human rights should be followed strictly to be a good Muslim and good human in eyes of Allah and Islam. Allah has told us to be good and kind to your parents in all means. It’s part of our religion to honor and respect our senior citizens regardless whether they are related to us or not. Holy prophet once said he is not among us who does not respect elders. It is essential part of religion. When Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was preaching Islam to non-Muslims leaders he shows respect to elders. A Muslim should be man of respect. A nation that has no respect to elders has no future. If we respect our elders today, we will get duas and tomorrow we will get respect from our young ones. It is give and take. We should show tolerance because elder get aggressive and rude. We should stand and greet them and give our place to sit as respect and honor.

Once Holy prophet (P.B.U.H) narrating his wish that if I was offering Isha namaz and my mother call my name so I would break my namaz will answer her in the most generous way. Once a follower asked Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) when will Qayamt come on that he replied when parents specially mothers will be treated in a bad way by daughters too. On other occasion Holy prophet (P.B.U.H) told Hazrat Umar (R.A) that in your era there will be a man Owais ibn Amir. Ask him to pray for you and Ali (R.A), they asked why? Prophet replied that he has pleased Allah by serving his mother so much that whenever he raises his hands, Allah does not turn him empty handed. At that point Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was conveying message to Muslims that senior citizens will be ill-treated specially mothers. Once Halima Sadia came to meet holy Prophet so he asked her sit on his blanket in respect. Islam always teaches us to respect our elders, listen to them and try to please them if its possible. People think that we only had to respect our parents only but Islam teaches that teachers and other elders have the same level in eyes Allah. We should not argue with them if they are wrong so we should try to convince them in a polite way. Never raise your voice in front of senior citizens. Never put burden on them. Islam ask us to give time to parents and other elders because it brings peace and love in society and family. Our societies are in so bad shape that children throw their parents in old age homes when they are busy in their business and other life activities which is totally against Islamic laws. Elders are the backbone of society.

Moderation

Moderation is eliminating or even lessening extreme to some extent in every matter.
For example lying to someone in serious conversation is considered as something
wrong but in light conversation where we lie in joking manner, we don’t consider it as
wrong. Although lying is wrong in both cases. Sometimes we do ignore some bad
things cause they were done jokingly, and only consider it bad when done seriously.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once asked a companion: “(Is it true)
that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night?” The companion replied that the
report was indeed true. The Prophet then said: “Do not do that! Observe the fast
sometimes and also leave (it) at other times. Stand up for prayer at mypher and also
sleep at night Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you and
your wife has a right over you”

Altruism

Altruism is one of the best and kindest acts considered. Basically, this act can be
defined as, when one himself is in need of any kind of help but he saw other in need
too, so he instead help them without considering his own condition.
Even Holy Quran praises this act of kindness in the verse “They give preference to
them over themselves – even concerning the things that they themselves urgently
need” (59:9).
Our Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is himself the best example of this kind act.
There are many such incident of him. He would always prefer to give his food to the
poor ones while he himself would be too much hungry, even once he tied stone of
hunger on his stomach to share the pain of hunger with poor.
After him Ahlul Bayt also proved to be the good example of this act. Holy prophet
always asked his wives and followers to never let go any needy with empty handed
some times Holy prophet use to lend money and give to needy people.

Islamic concept of rights of spouses.

Before moving to the rights of spouses we should know that relationship between
husband and wife are considered to be one of the most beautiful relationship in Islam. When
two individuals come together and become husband wife so they form a small unit of society
and after that they give birth to children which increase the strength of society. This
relationship is considered to be on of the most pious one in eyes of Allah. It is very different from relation with neighbors, friends, relatives etc. It is much more extreme on the verge of
unity.

The first relation which came into existence was of husband in wife through Hazrat Adam
and Bibi Hawa. On multiple places in Quran rights of spouse are define so it clearly defines
the importance of the rights of spouse. On one place Quran says that And of His signs is that
He has created for you, from yourselves, spouses that you may gain peace through them
and He has set among you love and compassion. Surely in this there are signs for
thoughtful people.” On another occasion Quran tell us that Allah has made husband and wife
as each other garments. So, if we try to understand from this verse Allah has mention right of
spouse that each one you mean husband and are covers of each other, both of them should
stay close to protect each other share feelings and thoughts, to have peace when together.
Respect each other and when both of you are together you increase beauty of each other.

If we talk about the rights of spouse in Islam so there are proper guidelines and we can find
them through Quran and Sun-nah of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). Few basic rights are as follow:

Both husband and wife should behave in the most decent and nice with each other,
respect each other feeling thoughts. “And consort with them (your wives) in honor
and equity [ma‘ruf].”

They should work together to transform their home into paradise for each other.

Husband should help their wives in household works. Holy prophet (P.B.U.H) use to
help his wives in doing house hold works like he clean his home, clean his clothes etc
and asked His followers to do the same so that they can help their wives.

Each other should be loyal to each other, cheerful, trust worthy and polite to each
other so that environment can be peaceful and loving

Through one hadees we get to know that the most complete man in faith are those
have the best manners and good among you are those who are good with their wives.

Both of them should dressed up properly to attract each other

Men should protect his women from physical and mental harm. Share feelings with
each other so that their bond can be stronger.

Husband should be considered as the guardian, have the supervision.

Family affairs should be done after mutual consultation and agreement with
cooperation of Husband and wife

Husband should able to bring wealth to house so that expenses and needs can be
fulfilled.

Husband should be gentle, appreciate his wife and forgive her mistakes and don’t
become stubborn.

On one occasion it is mention that the jihad of a woman is taking good care of her
husband

Both of them should love each other unconditionally and full fill their needs.

Wife should accept husband’s supervision and give her ideas too but should accept
the decision of husband

Both of them should be loyal to each other.

So these are the major concept and guidelines of rights of spouse in Islam which are good
to keep the house hold in healthy manner and have a peaceful environment.
