Islamic concept of rights of spouses.

Before moving to the rights of spouses we should know that relationship between
husband and wife are considered to be one of the most beautiful relationship in Islam. When
two individuals come together and become husband wife so they form a small unit of society
and after that they give birth to children which increase the strength of society. This
relationship is considered to be on of the most pious one in eyes of Allah. It is very different from relation with neighbors, friends, relatives etc. It is much more extreme on the verge of
unity.

The first relation which came into existence was of husband in wife through Hazrat Adam
and Bibi Hawa. On multiple places in Quran rights of spouse are define so it clearly defines
the importance of the rights of spouse. On one place Quran says that And of His signs is that
He has created for you, from yourselves, spouses that you may gain peace through them
and He has set among you love and compassion. Surely in this there are signs for
thoughtful people.” On another occasion Quran tell us that Allah has made husband and wife
as each other garments. So, if we try to understand from this verse Allah has mention right of
spouse that each one you mean husband and are covers of each other, both of them should
stay close to protect each other share feelings and thoughts, to have peace when together.
Respect each other and when both of you are together you increase beauty of each other.

If we talk about the rights of spouse in Islam so there are proper guidelines and we can find
them through Quran and Sun-nah of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). Few basic rights are as follow:

Both husband and wife should behave in the most decent and nice with each other,
respect each other feeling thoughts. “And consort with them (your wives) in honor
and equity [ma‘ruf].”

They should work together to transform their home into paradise for each other.

Husband should help their wives in household works. Holy prophet (P.B.U.H) use to
help his wives in doing house hold works like he clean his home, clean his clothes etc
and asked His followers to do the same so that they can help their wives.

Each other should be loyal to each other, cheerful, trust worthy and polite to each
other so that environment can be peaceful and loving

Through one hadees we get to know that the most complete man in faith are those
have the best manners and good among you are those who are good with their wives.

Both of them should dressed up properly to attract each other

Men should protect his women from physical and mental harm. Share feelings with
each other so that their bond can be stronger.

Husband should be considered as the guardian, have the supervision.

Family affairs should be done after mutual consultation and agreement with
cooperation of Husband and wife

Husband should able to bring wealth to house so that expenses and needs can be
fulfilled.

Husband should be gentle, appreciate his wife and forgive her mistakes and don’t
become stubborn.

On one occasion it is mention that the jihad of a woman is taking good care of her
husband

Both of them should love each other unconditionally and full fill their needs.

Wife should accept husband’s supervision and give her ideas too but should accept
the decision of husband

Both of them should be loyal to each other.

So these are the major concept and guidelines of rights of spouse in Islam which are good
to keep the house hold in healthy manner and have a peaceful environment.

Islamic laws which take public and private aspects of life in to consideration and tries to give
them maximum benefits. It also helps in dealing day to day matters which we come across
which is like brotherhood, socio economic justice, families, mental peace, social harmony,
market mechanism, society an good governance, politics, business etc. Islamic economic
frame work operates to improve human welfare which helps in preservation of enrichment of
Muslim faith, human life, protection of wealth and distribution.

The framework mainly aim to establish a society with ideal platform for everyone which

Doing business is one of the sun-nah of Holy prophet (P.B.U.H). Before he was appointed
as prophet he use to be a merchant. Islam appreciate if a person do hard work and earn money
for himself and his family. Allah dislikes the lazy people.

The Islamic concept of Gaining business contains 3 major elements those are knowing the best
investment, making good judgement and following the right conduct as Islam guide us. A
good investment is the one that can get us highest possible return. So with some deep
research we can achieve this. Like before investing in any business we should properly gather
all the information and analyze that so that investment can turn out to be fruitful.
Making the sound judgement in any kind of business is very necessary. Like if market’s
condition is not so well, so we should make quick and smart decisions. Making sound
judgment after collecting all information, verify the information and discuss with the
experience people so that our decision be strong and fruitful.
Following the right conduct means that we should follow all the ethics of conducting business
that has been told to us by our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and in Quran. As a Muslim we
should never go against our ethics and Islamic laws because rizq is in hand of Allah. If we

The Islamic concept of Losing business is that which may bring profit in short run but if we
consider it for long term it is in fruitful for us and society too. For example to explain this
concept we take any act which does not follows Islamic guidelines or its is against Islam so
by doing that we might end up having prophet in world but after life we have to punishment
for that. One example could a Muslim doing alcohol business in world he will earn money and
that is short run but if we take this into long run perception it will cost him too much on day
of judgement. Another example could be the person who is not avoiding interest from his
business activities so he might end up in earning profit in world but he will for sure face
repercussions. Dealing a contract on false term or we are speaking lie to other party so it is
also considered as losing business in Islamic concepts.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is one of the most ignorant chapter of our society. People just don’t want talk on this topic because according to general thinking this matter is to private. Domestic violence is not even considered as a crime because according to traditional ideology partners have complete right on their partner as if they are their private property. Not only women are victims of Domestic Violence but mostly women are the one who face it.

I would like to share a rare type of Domestic violence, that have been witnessed. It is disgusting and traumatizing. About 4 years ago, a woman with her 12 year old son shifted in a small house. She was a divorced and a single parent. Her brothers were supporting her, a small amount also came from a piece of land she owned. The lady had been in an extremely abusive marriage. Her husband was a psychopath who used to beat her with a steel rod.

Her in_laws were just as worse and encourage their son. Her husband forced her to ask her brothers for money and that was how their house expenses were regulated. She had 3 sons. Her husband refused to provide basic necessities. Didn’t get them any vaccines. Education was definitely not important to him. He was just an extremely horrible husband and an even worse father who made their lives a living a hell.

The woman some how spent 16 years with the same man. She was from a traditional family and obviously, divorce was not an option. Her eldest son, now 15, was diagnosed with a Atrial Septal Defect. Which is commonly known as a Hole in the heart.

The treatment was very expensive and could only be treated by high profile Cardiologists of Lahore and Karachi. Her Husband totally refused to cooperate and said, he really didn’t care about his son. Her in laws blamed her for giving birth to a sick child. The lady decided to take the matter to her own parents who agreed to provide the financial help but refused to accompany to Lahore as it would pull a bad social impression.

She all alone traveled and took the misery. Went to Hospitals, stayed on footpaths all for her son. Sadly, the doctors claimed it was too late, and her son passed away after 70 days of treatment.

Her horrible husband refused to pay any amounts for his burial and she had to ask her family once again. Her brother in law , grasped half the money and claimed it got used up. Her middle child, could not take the sorrow very well, and was in severe Trauma after the death of his brother.

The boy got weak. Her mother couldn’t afford any more doctors and decided to take him to local Hakeems. The hakeem messed up every thing and gave him some wrong medicines. Just after 15 days of her first son”s death , her second son passed away. Her husband blamed it all on her and very angrily established that he would revenge the death of his son.

He tried to attack her with Acid at midnight, she luckily escaped and called the police on him. Now, her family had no choice , but to get her divorce. She was now a divorce and shifted back to her city. Her brother got her a house away, to save themselves the embarrassment. The lady shifted to his new place with her son… obviously now, very strong and competent. She took a small job, got her son admitted to a school and things started to move for the better. Until one day, when her son refused to go to school. He was 16, had a bad company and was secretly in touch with his father and paternal family who influenced him into believing that her mother was a bad character.

The son was doing drugs. Asked his mother to increase the pocket money, upon receiving a light denial, he slapped his mother across the face and said,

” Tumhe mere baap nay seedha rakha tha, tum isi laik ho”

Ever since then, he had been beating his mother mercilessly. Made her cut all contacts with her family and sell her land all for his supply of drugs.

This boy, mentally sick, used to beat his mother with a steel rod. If someone from the mohalla confronted him about about it, he called him his ” Maa ka yaar ” and was just more cruel. Two days ago, her mother aged 56 passed away, after he hit her with rod in the head.

She laid on the floor and was not attended for 12 hours after which she passed away. Her son is nowhere to be found. People from neighboring and her own family arranged her burial.

Who to blame, What went wrong. When exactly did the son forget she was his mother. Please please Do Not ignore domestic violence. Report it the very first time you experience or witness it, don’t let it result into deaths. Don’t fall prey to social pressure like her and her family, don’t let a toxic man take a life.

The US State Department said on Monday that a prosperous and democratic Pakistan was critical to US interests.

Responding to queries about the current political situation in the country, a spokesperson for the State Department also underlined America’s support for the constitutional process in Pakistan.

“We are closely following developments in Pakistan. We respect and support Pakistan’s constitutional process and the rule of law,” the spokesperson told Dawn.

Pakistan was shaken near Gilgit, Gilgit-Baltistan, by an earthquake of magnitude 5.2. the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Gilgit, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, early evening on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, at 6:35 pm local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.0.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Skardu (pop. 2,100) located 52 km from the epicenter, and Gilgit (pop. 10,400) 90 km away.

Stakeholders are the ones who are directly affected by the firm’s action. It’s very important to assess the corporate culture. So, the corporate culture is how management and stakeholders react, interact and communicate and it also includes their believes. It is very important that organization culture should be more into giving back to society but not only in profit maximization, just like Bunker Roy who was living his best life a person could dream of and can spend rest of his life in enjoying and party but he believes to serve the neglected society or we can say the citizens. An organization can even donate what they produce, they can set up a training program for societies members like Mr. Bunker has done it.

List of stakeholders are customers, employees, investors, shareholders, banks, government, suppliers, vendors, community, society etc. As an ethical business we should care about all the stakeholders and try to make decisions after taking their point of view into consideration. Just like Mr. Bunker identified his major stakeholders and fulfilled his CSR. According to my analysis for Mr. Bunker major stakeholders were the neglected citizens of village. A firm should identify the major stakeholder group to fulfill their CSR like an apparel manufacturing firm can donate their stock lots to the society who is not privileged on the other hand they can donate machinery and train them how to make products. In this case they will be able to prosper in short time.

Identifying stakeholder’s issue is very important for effective CSR campaign. One of the best ways to identify the issue is to get connected with stakeholders through different means, take feedback from them. If I refer to the video, we can see that how he develops the night school for children because those students are busy in day with daily chores and animals. So, they were unable to attend school in day time so the solution to their problem was night school. Like wise a firm should identify the major need and then act according to it. An energy generating firm can start a CSR in a village where there is no proper electricity system.

Assessing organizational commitment to social responsibility is a key element because if organization is not keen or committed in giving back to society so there is no use of it. Like Mr. Bunker was quite committed in his CSR he was helping different nation citizens along with Indians and he never lose hope when experts told him that nothing can happen here and when husbands become the resistance, he tried different strategies to resolve the issue so that his CSR campaign remain on track. A firm should be committed to their CSR campaign only in that case things will turn out to be productive.

Identifying resources and determining urgency is also a very important point to focus on in CSR. Look for the issues which are more prior and try to execute them firs and gather the resources to execute the activity without loop wholes. Gaining stakeholder feedback is important because when ever you do anything you should take feedback so that you should either you were able to satisfy the people for whom you were making efforts. It also helps in making thing better next time.

We are consuming many things from society as an organization and individual its our responsibility to give back to the society.

There are many global environmental issues like air pollution, global warming, water pollution, land pollution etc. Because of harmful gasses created by industries and business air is being polluted and I have an adverse impact on nature, due to global warming world is facing different pattern pattern of weather which is predicted and it’s damaging the nature, ozone layer is also getting damaged which is not good sign for humans too because UV lights are hitting us directly, due to water pollution marine life is quite disturbed, people are consuming toxic water too. If theses thing is not controlled so it will cause great damage to us and all other living things. There are different environmental legislation available in different part of the world at some places its quite successful like in USA, Environmental Protection agency (EPA), they are responsible to protect citizens health and environmental risk, their main job is to see whether law related to environment and health is being followed or not, they take actions to improve the air quality, protect the water, clean up the society, ensuring safety use of chemicals, preventing pollution etc. In some parts of the world, it is not that successful like in Pakistan, there are laws and regulations related to environmental safety but people usually ignore them and when government department take some notices so they get bribes to stay quiet and see environmental destruction. In my view in Pakistan environmental protection is losing the battle to secure the environment and keeping people on track to follow the rules to protect the environment.

There are lot of consumers who wants to consume products which sustainable and be a responsible citizen if there no such difference in prices. Sexual harassment:

Sexual harassment is totally against the ethics, in this a person harasses the other person he could be anyone male, female. Both can be of same or different gender. For example, a boy who is continuously showing creepy and weird hand gesture to a girl working with him or touching her at inappropriate spots. This is totally against ethics.

Inappropriate gestures:

Inappropriate gesture are the gestures which are considered to be offensive, cheap, ethically not accepted and which can make any one uncomfortable, facial or eye expression etc. For example, using hand gesture to abuse someone or making someone uncomfortable with facial expressions or hand movement, touching opposite gender without their concern and making them uncomfortable.

Stealing:

Stealing is totally against business ethics. For example, you are working in a firm with different people and you are stealing their things products or you are stealing the personal information of organization and leaking it to rival organizations. Stealing is against ethical norms and values and we should avoid it.

Abusive Behavior:

Abusive behavior is totally against all organization rules and regulations and it is totally unethical too. Abusive behavior can be hostile, offensive, against business interest and values. For example, an employee is quite aggressive in work place and he is troubling his colleagues and management to. He always misbehaves with HR and Admin people use offensive language at work place so it is not ethically acceptable for any firm.

Discrimination:

Discrimination is an ethical issue in an organization, discrimination is carried on basis of religion, color, race, language etc. For example if we talk about Karachi where almost all type of people are working in an organization if anyone is treated in a bad way because is he is not Muslim, or he is Sunni or Shia or anything like that and he is being treated differently from others so this is called discrimination and it is totally against ethics.

Conflicts of Interest:

Conflict of interest can be seen at many places but if it gets out of hand so its not ethically acceptable. Conflict of interest occurs when two parties have opposite opinions and they started arguing to protect and achieve their goal and they think they are right, several time conflicts of interest get people into trouble and business gets affected which is against business ethics. For example two managers are having argument because of conflict of interest and to achieve their goal they are unethical ways so its ethically wrong.

Pakistan society is Lockesian or Hobbesian world ?

Where every one is equal no one is on controlling or authorities’ position, everyone is free to do whatever they want to do, no subordinates or anything like this. Rights of everyone will be protected no one deny them and no consent will be taken into consideration in any case. He is in favor of benevolent state where there is fair trade, joy, happiness, goodwill and quality.

On the other hand, Hobbes says when there is no government intervention so there will be violence, society will be brutal and chaotic and state of war against all will be seen because everyone will be looking for their own benefits and not caring for others. Humans are naturally selfish and greedy. Government should lay down the rules so that society remain in shape and people should follow them maintain peace and harmony.

If we talk about Pakistan according to my opinion, we live in Hobbes theory. Reason is that we can clearly see government in action, laws are there by authorities to be followed. If any situation arises its not the normal people who make their decision but its Pakistan government who come up with the final decision. We know that still there are violence and disturbance but government is there to resolve or look into this issue. If government won’t be there so their would-be worst condition.
